BEST PROF AT UBC HANDS DOWN!! Seriously guys, if you have the chance to take a class with him, do it! He's the first professor to cure my short attention span because of his amazing lecturing style! His discussion classes are also great. I have anxiety and his personality made me forget I had anxiety which made me participate well in discussions!

This was a summer class. Great and caring prof, lectures were very interesting, included a lot of diverse perspectives which is amazing and needed. Need to do all reading for discussion to do well. Kind of tough when it came to grading the final paper, which hadn't been the case for the other assignments.

Colin is a great lecturer, although he stutters a bit, he is very captivating to listen to. There are a lot of required readings for each tutorial discussion, but if you read them then it is easy to do well. Colin is fairly quick to grade assignments and gives helpful feedback. If you want to get an A then I suggest utilizing his office hours.

Dr.Grittner is very knowledgeable on history. It is clear he puts effort into his lectures and selects relevant course readings, I would take his course again. I did find him to be a pretty tough grader on the papers! I am an A avg. student and got 72-75 on my papers :/ I would utilize office hours to check in with papers to ensure a higher grade.

Professor Grittner is really cool. His lectures are fun and engaging and he talks in a way that genuinely does not make me feel bored. There are pretty hefty readings though (given that it is a HIST course but I am not a HIST major), but the material is generally pretty interesting. He is pretty strict with deadlines and extensions. Great prof!

Dr Grittner is so far my favorite professor at UBC. Hes very organized, clear, and excellent at explaining concepts. He does do heavy readings and discussions every few weeks, but he balances it all well, and it honestly works out great to understand the class better. Seriously if you get a chance he is amazing.

Dr Grittner was a really great prof! Super helpful and always down to answer questions, there is no such thing as dumb question to him (and trust me there were a fair share of dumb questions from my class...). Participation is mandatory for the tutorials but he's very accommodating and makes sure it's a comfortable environment to share ur thoughts

He's a good, newer prof. Pretty tough grader I've found. He could be clearer as far as his expectations, especially when it comes to papers. Otherwise, he conveys the history well, gets marks back fast, and gives lots of time for discussion. He is not picky about attendance, but you will be marked on attendance and participation. Would recommend.

I personally thought he was a tough grader, but since he is a new sessional lecturer, he is enthusiastic to help students. He's just fine. He's loud and clear. He has good slides. Attend class to understand them. He'll assign 3 article readings for each tutorial. Participate. Again, since he's fresh meat, so he'll go out of his way to help you.
